Pp Treat-of-the-Day

Pizza makes a pretty good breakfast, lunch, dinner or treat!
Perhaps you would like to make one today . . .

You could make a paper pizza with cardboard
and crayons and bits of colored paper.

But a smiley face pizza made out of dough, sauce,
cheese and pepperoni might taste a little better.

Mm Treat-of-the-Day

You could make a mud pie if you wanted to,
but muddy buddies might taste better.

To make muddy buddies you will need:

1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter
8 cups Rice Chex cereal
1 cup powdered sugar

In a large bowl microwave the peanut butter, chocolate chips
and butter for one minute. Stir the mixture until it is smooth,
microwaving an extra 30 seconds if necessary.
Add cereal to the bowl and use a large spatula to mix and
coat the cereal. Then pour the powdered sugar over
the cereal and toss to coat . . . or if you prefer,
you can spoon the cereal mixture into a ziplock bag,
pour in the powdered sugar, seal and shake!
Serve immediately or chill for later.

Ii Treat-of-the-Day

"I scream"

 "You scream"
"We all scream for ice cream!"
While you're waiting to collect your next
ice cream reading treat from Grandma, try
making some ice cream in a bag:

Fill one large (gallon size) ziplock bag with ice cubes and
6 Tb. of rock salt. Fill one smaller (pint-size) ziplock bag with
1/2 cup milk or half & half . . . 1 Tb. sugar and 1/2 tsp. vanilla.
Seal the small bag and place it inside the large bag.
Seal again carefully and shake until the mixture
is thickened like ice cream--about five minutes.
Remove the small bag from the large one, wipe it off
and open carefully. Then dig in and enjoy!

Bb Treat-of-the-Day

A banana is yummy to eat sliced on cereal . . .
sliced on a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich . . .
or cooked into banana nut bread . . .

Read this recipe to make yourself another tasty banana treat!

Peel three bananas and cut in half (or quarters) crosswise.
Insert a popsicle or lollipop stick into the cut end of each banana.
Place on a baking sheet lined with waxed paper
and freeze for a couple hours.

In a 2-cup glass measuring cup, melt 1/2 cup chocolate chips and
2 tablespoons shortening, stirring halfway through. Stir until smooth.
Dip bananas into chocolate using a spoon to completely coat them.
If you like,  immediately sprinkle each banana with sprinkles,
granola, chopped nuts, coconut, M&Ms or a a favorite kind of cereal
(such as rice krispies, cheerios or fruit loops).

Freeze bananas on baking sheet another 15-20 minutes
until chocolate is set. Enjoy then or wrap to serve later.
